Importance of Energy to Ohio’s Economy, Growth & Job Creation

Ohio may be sitting on a ‘gold mine’ breathing new life into the economy of one of the world’s premier manufacturing regions.  Estimates of the potential income from fuels that could be extracted from Ohio’s shale formations are staggering.     Quoted recently in the Columbus Dispatch, Aubrey McClendon, Chairman and CEO of Chesapeake Energy said, “The size of the economic prize is about $500 billion … This will be the biggest thing in the state of Ohio since maybe the plow.”

Called an economic ‘game changer,’ the gas drilling has already brought to new life to Ohio manufacturers & the steel industry including an enormous new $650 million seamless pipe mill  & 350 new jobs at V & M Star in Youngstown to take advantage of shale gas opportunities.   Republic Steel plans to invest $85.2 million & create 450 jobs in Lorain.  U.S. Steel & Timken are also making major investments.  And, JobsOhio energy czar has been encouraging through tax credits and other incentives Shell Oil Co. to build a multibillion-dollar ethylene cracker plant to process natural gas liquids from the shale formations here in Ohio.  At the end of the day, Ohio may have over 200,000 new jobs within the next 5 years due to this ‘gold mine’.

Attend the 16th Annual Ohio Energy Management Conference and receive priceless insights on shale gas development and its impact to stabilize natural gas prices for the foreseeable future.    As always, energy savings opportunities, energy efficiency, emerging technologies to help reduce energy consumption, and how best to take advantage of savings through renewable energy sources will be major components of this annual conference.  Several sessions will share with you the best practices in energy management providing you with valuable insights on effective, efficient & innovative use of energy.   You’ll also obtain valuable information on the numerous financial incentives, grant funding, tax credits for energy efficiency projects, renewable and offset improvements to help your organization get a better return on your investment.

In addition, you’ll receive the latest information on the new ESPs for AEP Ohio & Duke Energy and the significant rate developments for DPL & FirstEnergy, shopping opportunities, energy efficiency projects, renewable energy efforts and demand response programs offered by each of the electric utilities operating in Ohio.   By attending the conference, you’ll get a wealth of information helpful to you achieve your  short-term goal of budgeting your energy costs today as well as insight into the future cost of energy sources including coal, nuclear, solar, wind and natural gas.

Again, featured at the 2012 Ohio conference is a plethora of best practices and case studies from Ohio companies and their leading-edge initiatives.  Register today for the largest energy management conference in America’s Heartland and reduce your energy costs & consumption now!
